f f We can lift ourselves

out of ignorance
we can find ourselves

as creatures of excellence

and intelligence and skill.

We can be free!

We can learn to FLY!

. . . and then we will be ready
to begin the most difficult,

the most powerful of all —
to fly up and know the meaning

of kindness and of love. 9 '

Richard Bach

Jonathan Livingston Seagull

To those who have served to show us how much there is to be
learned, and who have done their best to instill in us the
power of knowledge, we extend our sincere gratitude, and
dedicate the 1974 TORCH to the faculty of Tenney Memorial
High School.

A simple "thank-you" is all we can say to Mr. Whiting for all the help and understanding he's shown. It's one thing to advise, but
another to show genuine concern, as he has. He's been many things to many people; Advisor, friend, teacher. But the one thing
he's given everyone, is a reason to say:

"Thanks, Mr. Whiting!" From the class of '74.

South America. They also bought a movie camera for the bene-

Easter Seals program. Finally, they participated in a program

The dream of an undefeated season was never fulfilled by the 1 974 Rangers. However, in the eyes of fans and team members alike, a new
sense of pride and accomplishment had become apparent. To Coach Bob Rosmarino and his fighting team, thanks and credit are due for
their struggle in giving Methuen a fine football season.

This year's basketball team made a fine showing, despite losing the
services of Varsity starter Fred Simm, for the whole season.

Throughout the season, the team showed their dedication and
perseverance by giving 100% in every game. Once again, a
Ranger team proved Tenney High proud!

This year, the fabulous senior girls again won the annual Powder Puff game. It
was accomplished by defeating the underclassmen by an overwhelming score
of 1 8-0. Much credit is due to our super spirited "cheerleaders," whose support
was greatly appreciated and enjoyed by all.

This year's softball team, under the great
coaching of Sheila Cunningham, was a
very close-knit unit and proved how strong
they really were by defeating the best
teams in the league, in compiling an 11-1
record and winning their second consecu-
tive championship. Even though they lost
in the State Tournament, congratulations
on having such a great year!

For the second time in three
years our baseball team has
taken the league champion-
ship. Led by Capt. Fred Simm,
who had a great pitching
record, Coach Scanlon's team
advanced to the second round
in the State Tournament, only
to be beaten by a fine Milton
team. Congratulations on a
great season!!
